One of my fondest memories of being a child is the afternoons spent examining tidal pools at low tide. Crabs and minnows darting about trying to find safe haven from this monster from shore intent on capturing whatever I could, trying to dislodge the Chinese hats from smooth rock surfaces without squishing them (this takes practice) and avoiding the sharp barnacles. Even as an adult I find myself staring deeply into these pools and being just as amazed now as I was then at the intensity of the activities within.
