When I am out shooting, I find that my best photographs come from being somewhat in love with what I am seeing. If I am actually able to capture it and someone else connects with it, then it is a successful shot. I tend to have a preference for nostalgia and for imagery that provokes questions and causes the imagination to connect with a personal memory or dream: "Where does that road lead? That road looks like the one I knew as a kid. I wonder what it looks like to the right? This actually feels cold, hot, lonely, etc." With each shot I personally associate the sounds, smells, feelings, temperature, etc. Not everyone can or will connect with a photograph in this way. That is the beauty of this medium and what makes each photographer different. Some will speak to you and others won't. My only advice about photography is "Be in love with what you see."
